The digital landscape is undergoing a dramatic transformation with the rapid ascent of "UpScrolled." In record time, the platform has surged to the forefront of social media, posing a direct challenge to tech titans such as TikTok, Instagram, and X. This report highlights the platform's meteoric rise, its origins, and the features that have established it as the new haven for millions of users.

1.A Meteoric Rise: Taking the Top Spot in the US

According to the latest tech reports, the "UpScrolled" app has achieved a remarkable milestone by clinching the #1 spot on the U.S. App Store, overtaking long-established legacy applications. Data indicates:

  • Recording over 100,000 downloads in a single day.
  • Entering the "Most Downloaded" charts in numerous countries.
  • A mass exodus of TikTok and X users toward the new platform in search of a freer digital space.

Commenting on this surge, tech expert Jamal Al-Mulla stated: "The platform reached the top spot because users are fleeing traditional platforms, having grown weary of billionaire censorship and content manipulation.

2. Why UpScrolled? (Competitive Advantages)

The platform positions itself as an ethical and technical alternative to the likes of TikTok and Meta, built on core pillars that its competitors lack:

  • Zero Censorship: Absolute freedom of expression without the removal of political or humanitarian content.
  • No Shadow Banning: Ensuring posts reach followers without algorithmic manipulation that throttles visibility.
  • Real-Time Feed: Displaying posts in actual chronological order, rather than being dictated by algorithms.
  • No Billionaire Control: A slogan championed by the platform to emphasize that it is community-owned and free from commercial or political agendas.
  • Privacy and Transparency: Enhanced user control over their data and digital experience.

In its mission statement, the platform declares: "We created UpScrolled in response to user demands for transparency... We are building a platform that belongs to the users, not to hidden algorithms.

3. The Story Behind the App: Born Out of Suffering in Gaza

UpScrolled is not merely a commercial venture; it is a technological response to a political reality. Behind the app is Palestinian-Australian developer Essam Hijazi, a tech expert with a professional background at global giants such as IBM and Oracle.

Founding Motivations:

  • Personal Tragedy: Hijazi lost approximately 60 members of his family in the Gaza Strip, a profound loss that marked a radical turning point in his life.
  • Digital Repression: After his personal accounts were banned and he witnessed the systematic suppression of Palestinian content on major platforms, he felt compelled to act.
  • The Drive for Change: Hijazi reflects: "Since the genocide, everything within me has changed. I felt complicit through my work at Big Tech firms, so I decided to launch a fair digital space."

Founded in late 2023 and early 2024, the app aims to be a voice for the voiceless. Under the slogan "The voice of Palestine will not be restricted," it has since expanded to serve the digitally marginalized worldwide.

4. Context: The "Battle for Awareness" and Digital Migration

The platform's rise comes at a critical juncture, as activists point out that the war is no longer limited to the military field but has extended into the digital sphere. Observers have highlighted Benjamin Netanyahu’s declaration of an "open war" on social media platforms—starting with TikTok—given their pivotal role in shaping global public opinion.

5- To avoid restrictive censorship policies,

Influential Voices Join the Platform: Due to restrictive censorship policies, high-profile influencers have begun migrating to UpScrolled. Preacher Mahmoud Al-Hasanat announced the launch of his account on the new platform after TikTok permanently deleted his previous account, which boasted over 10 million followers. Al-Hasanat stated: "The account was permanently deleted due to the app's Zionist policies.

Omani activist Malik Al-Yahmadi has also urged the search for alternatives, pointing out that current platforms—particularly "X"—have come under the ownership of Zionists and their allies, and are biased toward misleading narratives.

While users celebrate the emergence of this alternative, digital media expert Khaled Safi poses a pivotal question: Are we looking at a mere alternative platform, or a defining test for digital freedom of expression?

It appears that UpScrolled is far more than just a new application; it is a tech-driven protest movement dedicated to reclaiming the internet from the grip of Big Tech and political agendas, serving as a safe haven for those championing the causes of truth, justice, and humanity.
