Kuwait's unwavering support for the Palestinian people amid the Gaza crisis dominates this week's news

The Amir's Representative, Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, strongly condemned the "genocide and ethnic cleansing" in Gaza at the UN Security Council, citing the loss of over 60,000 martyrs, mostly women and children. He affirmed Kuwait’s stance for a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Kuwait's humanitarian efforts are robust, with charities like KRCS, Namaa Charity, and Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri Charity Society delivering urgent aid, including 230 water trucks to Gaza and a $1 million agreement with the WFP. Other news includes Kuwait's commitment to regional dialogue at the Munich Leaders Meeting, a Kuwaiti photographer winning two awards at the Siena International Photo Awards, and a Kuwaiti doctor's election to the board of the WFICCS.

Kuwait Amir representative: Brotherly Palestinian People Face Brutal Siege, Borders Shattered, Lives Lost

The Representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah has shed light on the Gaza Strip catastrophe and the brotherly Palestinian people's suffering. This came in a speech delivered on Tuesday by His Highness on behalf of the GCC states, during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian cause.

His Highness the Crown Prince said that the brotherly Palestinian people have been facing the most grotesque suffering, an unfair suffocating siege, border devastation, and the loss of over 60,000 martyrs, most of them women and children. What is going on in the Strip is a genocide and ethnic cleansing, which are a deep wound in human conscience that need immediate action, His Highness noted. "We have worriedly followed up the last military escalation. We condemn in the strongest terms the brutal Israeli attacks on the sisterly State of Qatar," His Highness the Crown Prince told the attendees. "We clearly affirm that undermining a GCC state's security is an attack on all GCC members. Our security, position and fate are shared," His Highness underlined.

His Highness the Amir's Representative went on to say that fair and permanent justice in "our" region could only be achieved through the two-state solution based on the international legitimacy resolutions topped with the Security Council resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. This is the only way to end the Israeli occupation, ensure legitimate Palestinian people's rights and establish an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, His Highness the Crown Prince stressed.

"We warn against undermining this solution through the policies of settlement, displacement, and imposing the status quo," His Highness affirmed. His Highness the Crown Prince urged the international community, mainly the Security Council, to bear its full responsibility to prevent the repetition of these violations, and ensure the perpetrators would not go unpunished and the access of Palestinian people's inalienable rights to self-determination.

The Amir's Representative welcomed the countries' recognition of the Palestinian state on Monday during the high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of Palestine's issue and the implementation of the two-state solution. He termed the step as "blessed and courageous" that goes in harmony with international law and justice.

In addition, His Highness the Crown Prince said that the GCC reiterated its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, and that these crimes are not only against Palestinians, as they pose a threat to regional and international security as a whole. He asked the Security Council to translate its words into practical steps to immediately stop the Israeli aggression and ensure humanitarian aid access, protect civilians and end unfair and illegitimate occupation for the sake of safety and security. His Highness finally thanked the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for requesting this emergency session.

Israeli collective punishment of Palestinians runs counter to religion, law, and humanity: Crown Prince

At the 80th UN General Assembly session, His Highness the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, representing His Highness the Amir, condemned the escalating Israeli military operations against Palestinians in Gaza, Jerusalem, and the West Bank. His Highness reaffirmed Kuwait’s unwavering support for Palestinian rights and the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the 1967 borders and international resolutions. He welcomed recent global recognitions of Palestine and urged more nations to follow suit, emphasizing Kuwait’s continued backing of UNRWA.

Beyond Palestine, His Highness expressed support for the sovereignty of Syria and Lebanon, voiced concern over instability in Libya, Yemen, Sudan, and Somalia, and called on Iran to engage in confidence-building dialogue respecting state sovereignty. Addressing regional matters, he urged Iraq to resolve outstanding bilateral issues with Kuwait, including maritime boundary demarcation, POWs, missing persons, and the national archive, while stressing adherence to agreements on Khor Abdullah.

His Highness congratulated Annalena Baerbock on her election as UNGA President and praised outgoing President Philemon Yang and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres for their efforts. He endorsed the UN80 Initiative and called for reforms to enhance transparency, justice, and credibility within the UN system. Kuwait, currently presiding over the GCC Supreme Council, reaffirmed its commitment to regional stability and expressed solidarity with Qatar following the recent Israeli attack.

Kuwait charities reaffirm unwavering support for Palestinians

Kuwait continues to demonstrate steadfast humanitarian support for the Palestinian people through coordinated relief efforts and strategic partnerships. Following a meeting with Palestinian Ambassador Rami Tahboub, Al-Mughamis highlighted the importance of collaboration with government bodies and local charities, citing the second Kuwaiti relief bridge as a model of integrated humanitarian action.

Ambassador Tahboub praised KRCS’s leading role in providing urgent assistance and confirmed continued coordination, especially for Gaza relief efforts. He expressed deep gratitude to Kuwait’s leadership and people, underscoring the fraternal bond between the two nations.

The initiative will provide hot meals and nutritional supplements to vulnerable groups facing acute food shortages. Chairman Eng. Namaa delivers urgent aid to Gaza and Yemen

Kuwait’s Namaa Charity announced Monday the launch of an urgent water distribution campaign in the Gaza Strip, in coordination with partner organizations accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to support families facing an escalating water crisis. As part of the initiative, 230 water trucks were delivered to affected areas, benefiting more than 2,760 people.

“The daily scenes reflect the gravity of the damage to water facilities…,” said Abdulaziz Al-Kandari, Deputy CEO of Namaa Charity. He emphasized that the campaign was not a temporary initiative but a lifeline for families in need. “Water is not a luxury, but a basic right to survival,” he said, adding that the field team overcame major obstacles, including destroyed roads, fuel shortages and security challenges.

He also expressed appreciation to Kuwait’s leadership for its unwavering support of humanitarian work. Al-Kandari praised the Foreign Ministry for facilitating the aid process and ensuring coordination with authorized partners inside Gaza. He further thanked all contributors and donors, stressing that Namaa Charity will remain at the forefront of relief efforts.

Meanwhile, in Yemen, Namaa Charity distributed 332 food baskets in the Tihama region of western Yemen, reaching 2,324 displaced individuals and orphans as part of the “Kuwait by Your Side” campaign, now in its 11th year. In a press statement, Namaa’s Marketing Director Ibrahim Al-Sanea said the initiative aims to alleviate the suffering of affected families, enhance food security and support widows and orphans. Following the October 2023 assault on Gaza, Kuwait launched urgent aid convoys, mobilized public campaigns, and condemned forced displacement at the Cairo Peace Summit.

Experts highlighted Kuwait’s dual-track approach: robust diplomacy and expansive humanitarian aid. Dr Noura Al-Shuaibi noted over 50 aircraft, three relief ships, and medical teams sent to Gaza. Dr Khaled Al-Shatti cited Kuwait’s $500,000 annual ILO donations and the “Faza’a for Gaza” campaign, which raised over $37 million.

 Kuwaiti-supported exhibition highlights Gaza’s resilience

The “Against Erasure – Photographs from Gaza” exhibition at London’s P21 Gallery offers a powerful visual narrative of Gaza’s suffering and resilience, running through October 10. Supported by Kuwait and its embassy in the UK, the show features 11 Gaza-based photographers.

Sami Alramyan, head of the Humanitarian Photography Grant, emphasized the role of photography in exposing abuses against children and teachers. Organizers describe the exhibition as a reframing of Gaza—not as a spectacle of suffering, but as a landscape of humanity and creative resistance.

Partners include Namaa Charity, Kaaf Humanity, and the International Islamic Charity Organization.

Kuwait’s representative to the Munich Leaders Meeting, First Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, underlined the country’s commitment to regional dialogue and international cooperation during the high-level gathering in Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia.

The three-day meeting, held at the Maraya Theater and running through Thursday, brought together senior decision-makers and global experts to discuss pressing issues including international trade, regional crises, energy transition, maritime security and nuclear safety. The conference comes days after US President Donald Trump unveiled a 20-point peace proposal for Gaza — a plan that enjoys wide international backing, including from Kuwait.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the sidelines of the conference, Sheikh Fahad said Kuwait’s participation “confirms our keenness to support regional dialogue and strengthen international cooperation.” He highlighted discussions on urgent humanitarian issues in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, noting that “participants agreed that sustainable regional security cannot be achieved amid ongoing aggression.”
