Professor Sayyid Qutb said in his book World Peace and Islam, page 56: It is the right of a man, just as it is the right of a woman, to feel reassured about their partner and not to be subjected to temptations that may divert their emotions away from their spouse—if not lead them to slip into sin. This would threaten that sacred bond and destroy the atmosphere of complete trust and tranquility.
This emotional deviation and the slide into something even worse happen every day, every moment, in societies where free mixing is rampant, where women roam adorned and revealing, and where the devils of seduction and temptation are unleashed. It is empty chatter—belied by reality—when meaningless voices here and there claim that mixing genders refines emotions, releases repressed energies, teaches both sexes the etiquettes of conversation and interaction, and provides experience that prevents mistakes. They argue that selecting a spouse based on full experience—even including the element of sin—ensures that each partner remains loyal to the other because they have made their choice with full satisfaction and after a thorough experience.
I say, this is nonsense disproved by reality—by the constant deviations, the ongoing shifts in emotions, the destruction of homes through divorce and other means, and the widespread prevalence of mutual marital betrayals in such societies.
As for the myth of moral refinement and controlled release of desires through meetings and conversations, let them ask about the percentage of pregnant high school students in America, which in one school reached 48%.
And as for the supposedly happy homes resulting from absolute gender mixing and unrestricted choice, let them ask about the percentage of homes shattered by divorce in America, which rises period after period in direct proportion to increased mixing and greater freedom of choice. This alarming percentage has followed this trajectory:
7 Essential Steps to Prevent Divorce
The magazine Islamic Civilization, in its second volume, page 489, published the following report: “The U.S. Senate recently approved a bill allowing courts to punish unmarried mothers who give birth to two or more children by sentencing them to one to two years in prison!”
I say: The Western woman is truly unfortunate! They forced her out of her home and pushed her into factory work and other jobs, and when this philosophy produced its natural consequences, they began punishing her with imprisonment for one to two years!
If they were to ask their consciences, Who is responsible for unmarried women in their societies falling into this crime? they would answer: We men!
