Fierce Battles in Gaza
On the 62nd day of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, there were intense battles between the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli occupation forces. The Palestinian resistance fought back against the occupation forces, while the Israeli forces attacked and killed civilians. The situation in Gaza is getting worse, with increasing humanitarian suffering and warnings of famine and epidemics among the displaced people.
Qassam Operations
The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, fought fiercely against the Israeli forces in different areas of the Gaza Strip. They destroyed 135 vehicles and targeted the Israeli army's command room in Gaza City with missiles.
The Israeli army admitted that the son of War Council member Gabi Eisenkot and three other officers were killed. Since the ground operation began in late October, a total of 92 people have been killed.
About 100 Israeli soldiers were seriously injured, and some of them lost their eyesight due to explosions, shrapnel, or gunfire.
Increase in Casualties
The Israeli forces intensified their air raids and artillery shelling in several areas of the Gaza Strip, causing the number of martyrs to rise to more than 17,000, including 350 in the past 24 hours. The number of injured has reached 46,000 since the start of the war on Gaza.
Killing of Displaced People and Arrests
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Observatory reported that Israeli forces burned homes in Beit Lahia and killed civilians who were raising white flags.
Video clips showed that the occupation forces arrested displaced persons residing in a shelter center in Gaza and stripped them of their clothes in front of cameras.
Humanitarian Crisis
The Ministry of Health in Gaza warned about the risk of famine and epidemics among the displaced people. The United Nations expressed concern that Palestinians are being forced to move to southern Gaza, but there are no safe areas for them. The International Committee of the Red Cross stated that the numbers of casualties do not reflect the magnitude of the tragedy that the people of Gaza are experiencing.
Oxfam International accused Israel of carrying out collective punishment in Gaza and criticized the so-called safe zones established by Israel, stating that they are neither protected nor reliable.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed that the conditions required to provide aid in the Gaza Strip are not met. All shelters are overcrowded, and the aid provided is insufficient to meet the enormous needs.
Developments in the West Bank
The Israeli occupation forces conducted a massive campaign of incursions into the cities of the occupied West Bank. They launched an arrest campaign in Nablus, Tulkarm, and Bethlehem, leading to clashes with Palestinian resistance fighters. The Tulkarm Battalion reported that two Israeli soldiers were wounded.
The Palestinian Prisoners Club stated that the number of arrests has risen to more than 3,670 detainees since the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
Lebanese Front
Hezbollah, a Lebanese militant group, bombed 10 Israeli sites, resulting in the killing of two Israeli soldiers. In response, the Israeli army targeted Hezbollah infrastructure and military sites in southern Lebanon.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened Hezbollah, warning that if they wage a comprehensive war against Israel, Beirut and southern Lebanon will suffer the same fate as Gaza and Khan Yunis.
Gaza and the Palestinian Authority
The British newspaper The Times revealed that a British military team in the West Bank is working to prepare the Palestinian Authority to take over the administration of the Gaza Strip.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri stated that the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people and should be given the ability to govern both the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Destruction of Tunnels
An Israeli army officer mentioned that it will take months to destroy about 500 kilometers of Hamas tunnels in the Gaza Strip.
The US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, informed the Israeli War Council that the "conflict" should be resolved within weeks, not months, according to an American official.
